The role
We are looking for a highly organized and results-driven Project Operations Manager to oversee the post-delivery operations of critical projects. This role acts as a bridge between project implementation and long-term business support, ensuring seamless transitions, stable performance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate combines financial awareness, operational insight, and cross-team coordination to sustain project success long after go-live.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations and performance of delivered projects.
- Facilitate smooth handover from project teams to business units or support operations.
- Track and monitor ongoing project-related expenses and ensure cost-efficiency.
- Forecast operational budgets and ensure alignment with financial plans.
- Define and track project KPIs and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Identify performance gaps and coordinate corrective action plans.
- Provide regular performance reports and risk updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Maintain operational documentation, change logs, and governance records.
- Act as the operational liaison across business units, vendors, and support teams.
- Address operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Conduct post-project reviews and operational data analysis.
- Recommend and implement continuous service improvements.
- Collaborate with teams to evolve services and enhance customer or user satisfaction.
Key Skills
- Project & Operations Management: In-depth understanding of project post-delivery phases, operations control, service transition, and stabilization processes.
- Financial Acumen: Skilled in managing operational budgets, tracking actuals vs. forecasts, and driving cost-efficiency initiatives.
- Performance Monitoring & KPI Analysis: Comfortable analyzing SLA metrics, operational dashboards, and deriving data-driven decisions.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Clear and effective communicator across all organizational levels, capable of drafting executive-level reports and engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership & Cross-functional Coordination: Strong ability to align distributed teams and third-party vendors toward common operational goals.
- Problem Solving: Identifies root causes and implements timely, pragmatic solutions to operational issues and risks.
- Reporting Tools & Systems: Proficient in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms for monitoring performance and presenting insights.
- Process Optimization: Familiarity with frameworks like Lean, Six Sigma, or ITIL for driving operational efficiency and service quality.
- Operational Risk Management: Skilled in identifying ongoing risks in service delivery and applying mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in project operations, service delivery, or post-project support roles.
- Preferred certifications: PMP®, PRINCE2®, ITIL®, Lean Six Sigma®, or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency in performance dashboards and operational documentation.
- Experience working across business, technical, and vendor landscapes.
